How to Use an Anti-To-Do List

A simple record of what you already did when a conventional task list feels incomplete.

5 min readPractical, beginner-friendly

An anti-to-do list is a running note of completed actions. It can make invisible maintenance work easier to see without turning the day into a scorecard.

What belongs on it

Include small actions, care work, preparation, and things you handled without putting them on a list.

  • Sent the difficult email
  • Put dishes away
  • Read ten pages
  • Made an appointment

What does not

Do not use it to prove that you were productive enough. If listing something feels pressuring, leave it off.

A useful template

Write the date, then add completed actions as they happen. At the end of the day, circle one thing that made another task easier.
